1. What Is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism occurs when an author presents another person's ideas, words, data, results, figures, tables, or other intellectual contributions as their own without appropriate acknowledgment. Proper citation and attribution must be provided whenever material from another source is used.

2. Forms of Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication

Examples of unacceptable practices may include:

• Directly copying text from another source without appropriate quotation and citation.
• Presenting another author's ideas, methods, results, figures, tables, or illustrations without attribution.
• Reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without appropriate citation or disclosure.
• Submitting substantially the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.
• Duplicate publication of substantially the same research in multiple publications.
• Dividing one research study into multiple papers in a manner that misrepresents the originality or contribution of each publication.
• Using figures, photographs, tables, diagrams, or other copyrighted material without appropriate permission or acknowledgment where required.
• Copying material from websites or online sources without proper attribution.

3. Similarity Screening

Manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism or similarity detection software during the editorial process. Similarity results are evaluated by the editorial team rather than being interpreted solely on the basis of a single numerical percentage.

Matches may arise from legitimate sources such as references, standard terminology, article titles, commonly used academic expressions, properly quoted material, or previously published material belonging to the authors. The editorial team therefore reviews the underlying similarity report before determining whether further action is necessary.

4. Action Before Publication

Where substantial unattributed overlap or other originality concerns are identified, the journal may request clarification, revision, proper citation, or other corrective action from the authors. Depending on the seriousness of the concern, a manuscript may be rejected or withdrawn from consideration.

Serious cases may include extensive unattributed copying, duplicate publication, fabricated or misleading attribution, or deliberate attempts to conceal the original source.

5. Concerns Identified After Publication

If credible evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, substantial unattributed reuse, or another serious publication-ethics concern is identified after publication, the journal may investigate the matter and take appropriate corrective action.

Depending on the findings, corrective measures may include publication of a correction, editorial note, expression of concern, retraction, removal of content where justified, or notification of relevant institutions or organizations.

6. Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to IJMRSI confirm that:

• The submitted work is original and has not been knowingly copied from another source without appropriate attribution.
• The manuscript has not been submitted simultaneously to another journal unless this has been expressly communicated and permitted.
• All sources, quotations, data, figures, tables, and ideas from other works are appropriately acknowledged.
• Previously published or copyrighted material is disclosed and used in accordance with applicable permissions and citation requirements.
• All listed authors meet appropriate authorship requirements and have approved the submitted manuscript.

7. Self-Plagiarism and Reuse of Previous Work

Authors should disclose relevant prior publications, conference papers, preprints, reports, theses, or other publicly available materials when substantial portions of the submitted work are based on previously disseminated content.

Reuse of an author's own previously published text, figures, tables, or results without suitable acknowledgment may constitute self-plagiarism or duplicate publication, depending on the circumstances.

8. Previously Published or Translated Work

A manuscript that has previously appeared in another publication should not be submitted as an original unpublished article unless the journal has expressly approved the submission and the prior publication, copyright status, and relationship between the works are clearly disclosed.

10. Editorial Decision

The editorial team considers the available evidence, similarity reports, source attribution, author responses, manuscript content, and the seriousness of any suspected violation when making editorial decisions. The journal does not rely solely on a numerical similarity percentage to determine whether plagiarism has occurred.
